If you are looking for part-time, non-permanent work during our strawberry picking season, and you are not a New Zealand resident, you will need to apply for either a work permit or holiday working visa. Some nationalities are entitled to working holiday visas, so you should get in touch with a New Zealand embassy or consulate in your own country to find out if you are eligible, and then apply to get a holiday working visa before your arrival in New Zealand.
If you cannot get a working holiday visa you will need to get a work permit. For more information about applying for a work permit and/or determining whether you are eligible, please visit the New Zealand Immigration web site.
All workers need a tax number which you can obtain from the Inland Revenue Department. Getting a New Zealand tax number is a straightforward process. Go to https://www.ird.govt.nz/how-to/irdnumbers/ for more information.
If you’d like a job working in our strawberry packhouse, we’d love to hear from you. Please fill out our online strawberry job application form.
